About Dr. Brent
Dr. Brent is the founder of The Idea Works, Inc., and is Professor and Chair of the Department of Sociology at the University of Missouri. At the University of Missouri, he has held positions in the Department of Computer Science in the School of Engineering, the Department of Health Services Management, Department of Family and Community Medicine, and the Department of Management. He is also VP of FundProVo, a nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals and aid groups raise funds and resources for underserved communities. He is also on the Board of Directors of the Yangward Foundation, a nonprofit serving disadvantaged women in Nepal.
He earned his B.S. with Honors in Physics at the University of Missouri, and his PhD in Sociology at the University of Minnesota. He was a post-doctoral fellow at the National Library of Medicine, and the National Institute of Mental Health. He was Visiting International Fellow at the Institute of Social Research at the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom.
His areas of expertise include Research Methods, Social Statistics, Data Structures, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematical Modeling, Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis, and Social Psychology.
He has consulted for the National Institute of Education, Illinois Wesleyan University, Illinois State University, the U.S. Postal Service, and Abbot Laboratories, among many others.
